Wanda Viellieux to serve as Grand Marshall of 2017 Loyalty Day Parade

NEW RICHMOND – Loyalty Day is the day we reaffirm our loyalty to the United States and our commitment to the freedoms we enjoy. It is also a day to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, those who have served and those who are currently serving to further and protect freedom. The Loyalty Day Parade will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00pm in New Richmond, WI. 

The theme of the 2017 Loyalty Day Parade, “Loyalty is a Community of Character,” honors individuals who have worked to educate, engage and encourage others to strengthen their knowledge, understanding and participation in community and country. 

The 2017 Loyalty Day Parade Committee has named Wanda Viellieux of New Richmond as the Grand Marshall. Viellieux has been active in tutoring elementary readers and in community education. She is active as an American Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Volunteer and as the Patriotic Instructor for VFW Post 10818 Ladies Auxiliary. Recently Viellieux joined with Tom Lindfors to produce candidate forums for state and local elections. “Wanda has a lengthy history of volunteerism,” said Scottie Ard, Parade Director. “Wanda embodies the spirit that one individual can make a difference.” 

The Loyalty Day Parade is free to enter. The parade will begin at 2:00pm on N. High Street and proceed south on Knowles Ave. to East 6th Street in New Richmond. Knowles Ave. will close to traffic at 1:45pm on Saturday, May 6 and reopen following the conclusion of the parade.

Communities, groups, organizations and individuals are encouraged to participate in the 2017 Loyalty Day parade. The 2018 Wisconsin State VFW Loyalty Day Parade will be hosted in New Richmond, WI.
