News for the week of March 12th to the 18th:
Our Sunday afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, and making new friends as the 22ers 4H Group came in the afternoon to spend an hour playing bingo. We enjoyed visiting with the children and families and of course winning prizes is always a good thing!
Monday morning found our Kitchen Helpers in the Square. They spent the time frosting St. Patrick’s Day cookies for us to enjoy later in the week. The afternoon found Pat Sajack and Vanna White in the East Dining Room leading us in an hour of Wheel of Fortune. Well maybe Pat and Vanna didn’t come, but we still had a great time guessing the different phrases that Cathy had for us. Meanwhile in the Square, it was time for our cribbage enthusiasts to get together. Everyone had a great time. All agreed it will be even more fun when we can enjoy some of our afternoon activities outside in the courtyard. After the games we gathered for cocktail hour in the Square. We welcome some new residents who joined us, and also said our goodbyes to Marion Knutson. Marion will be moving to Eau Claire to be closer to her family. We wish her well.
Residents gathered Tuesday morning to enjoy an hour of Bean Bag Games. The afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats.
Pastor Walk led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. The Square filled with country music fans in the afternoon as JC Colby came to share an hour of some of our favorite country western songs. We always enjoy his visits!
We held our Irish Celebration on Thursday at the Big Yellow House. As the residents gathered in the Square, they were greeted to an Irish themed dining room and were offered a glass of green beer or Irish Coffee. While we waited for Chef Andy to make finishing touches to our special meal, we did our homework. There was a quiz on what we knew about Ireland, along with a circle word using familiar Irish words. When it was time to eat, we were treated to a wonderful Irish Stew with Andy’s famous horseradish sauce and for dessert, he made us an Irish Whiskey Chocolate Cake. Once again, Andy did a great job preparing this wonderful meal. Then it was time for a short afternoon nap before gathering once again in the Square to listen to the music of Billy Krause. While Billy entertained us, we enjoyed our favorite adult beverages. Later that day, Ruckus the Therapy Dog came to visit. We always enjoy watching him do his tricks and many love petting his soft fur.
The Catholics gathered on East for our Friday morning rosary group led by Loretta. Later in the Square we held Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. With Bruce on the guitar and Kathy on the piano, our singing sure sounded good! Friday afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the Square. We appreciate the Colfax Cub Scouts coming to help us out with our hour of fun. As always, it is a great way to end the week.
Until Next Week,
Barb Stobb, Activity Director
