Colfax varsity dance team places 3rd place overall in Dunn-St. Croix Conference Competition

RIVER FALLS — The Colfax Varsity Dance Team competed Saturday January 14th in River Falls, WI in the Western Wisconsin Dance Conference Competition. All the teams in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference came with strong routines.

Mondovi took the Dunn-St. Croix Conference championship with their routines in Pom and Hip Hop. Spring Valley came in 2nd overall with their routines in Pom and Jazz. The Colfax Varsity Dance team came in third place overall in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference in Pom and Jazz. A couple comments from the judges for their Pom routine to “Ballroom Blitz” were; “good variety of levels with formations”, “cute entrance”, and “good smiles.” For their Jazz routine to “He’s A Pirate” one judge commented on the “cute theme” and said it was “fun to watch”. 

Dancers can also compete individually for 1st team all conference by choreographing a solo or can compete in a duet for 2nd team all conference. Hannah Yingst and Abby Schotter performed a duet to “Sand” and missed 2nd team all conference by 10 points. There were only 3 girls that earned 1st team all conference and 2 of them were from Colfax and they were only separated by 2 points. Caroline Dworak choreographed and competed with her solo to “Submarines”. She earned a third place trophy and 1st team all conference. Haley Seston also choreographed and competed with a solo to “Me Too”. She earned the 2nd place trophy and 1st team all conference. 

For the next couple weeks the team will be working on preparing their Pom and Jazz dances for Regional competition in New Richmond on Saturday, January 28th.
