EM’s Dane Lew named to all-region team

ELK MOUND — Elk Mound senior Dane Lew was named to the 2016 Wisconsin Football Coaches’ Association all-region team for the West Central region.

Lew, who appeared on the 2015 list as a defensive back, was listed as a DB again this season.

Lew’s father, Elk Mound head football coach Dave Lew, said the players on the team are chosen by coaches around the state. Coach Lew stated coaches are not allowed to vote for players in their home conference, which means Dane was selected by coaches who are not familiar with him as a player.

The Elk Mound senior is one of five players chosen from the West Central region for this year’s team. Menomonie’s Jake Goodman, Adams-Friendship’s Joe Duty, Arcadia’s Carter Halverson, and Holmen’s Craig Newsom, Jr. are the other backs representing the region.

The WFCA website indicates the 2016 all-state teams and player of the year would be announced Monday, November 7, 2016, but no information had been posted on the site before press time.
