Colfax Commercial Club announces winter movie series at Cozy Theatre

COLFAX —  The Colfax Commercial Club is planning four movies at the Cozy Theatre in the Colfax Municipal Building Auditorium for the 2016-2017 winter movie series.

The Cozy Theatre is the historic name attached to the auditorium where movies were shown for several decades.

Colfax Commercial Club members wanted to revive the name of the movie theater to make a historical connection with Colfax and the municipal building auditorium.

The first movie in the series, the animated film “Finding Dory,” will be shown Saturday, November 19, at 7 p.m.

“Finding Dory” (2016) is the story of Dory, a blue tang, which is a type of fish that lives around reefs and rocky areas and browses on algae.

With help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory begins a search for her long-lost parents.

The second movie in the series, the animated film “The Secret Life of Pets” (2016), will be shown Saturday, December 17, at 7 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what your pets do all day long while you are gone from home? This movie may provide a few answers.

The third movie in the series, the animated film “Zootopia” (2016), will be shown Saturday, January 21, at 7 p.m.

Zootopia is a city where all animals live together, and the film’s storyline is part comedy and part mystery and involves a bunny rabbit who is a cop.

The fourth movie in the series, the animated film “Inside Out” (2015), will be shown Saturday, February 18, at 7 p.m.

“Inside Out” is the story of Riley, an 11-year-old Midwestern girl whose emotions are thrown into chaos when she moves to San Francisco with her parents.

Admission to the films in the Winter Movie Series is $5 per movie.

The licensing fee for showing recently-released movies has increased to $425, said Scott Gunnufson, president of the Colfax Commercial Club.

The Colfax Commercial Club is a 501.c6 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Village of Colfax and fostering a sense of community among residents in Colfax and the surrounding area.

Renovation of the Colfax Municipal Building Auditorium, also known as the Cozy Theatre, was a project of the Colfax Municipal Building Restoration Group, a 501.c3 non-profit organization.

The Colfax Commercial Club will be offering season passes at the November 19 movie for $15.

A season pass will allow you to watch four movies for the price of three.
