VILLAGE OF COLFAX – Construction on the 3rd Avenue reconstruction project from Park Street to Dunn Street is scheduled to begin immediately after Labor Day. Utility companies currently are relocating underground and overhead lines to prepare for the work. Tree removal also begins this week to make way for new curb and gutter.
Construction work will involve removing pavement; replacing underground water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer; new concrete curb and gutter; and repaving the street. Haas and Sons, Inc., of Thorp is the general contractor.
The road will be closed to through traffic, but homeowners will be allowed to access their driveways through the majority of the project. During underground construction work it may be difficult to access driveways. When curb and gutter is installed, the concrete will need to cure for several days and gain its strength, and homeowners will need to park on the street during this portion of the project.
The contractor will make every effort to secure the site each night and on weekends. Residents are reminded that construction zones are dangerous, and children should not play in the area.
Construction is scheduled for completion by October 15.
