News for the week of July 17th to the 22nd
The talk around the nursing home on Monday morning was of two things; the Republican Convention, and the expected heat wave at the end of the week.
We all agreed, we would stay indoors, and stay busy with other things besides watching TV! And we did get busy, as our card craft group met to sort more cards and ready them for sale as we had sold out of the ones we had made. Monday afternoon was spent in the Square for an hour of Wheel of Fortune. We all agree it is one of our favorite pastimes. The phrases were fun to guess, and all had to do with summertime. Later that afternoon, we gathered up a group of residents and headed to the Circus. We all enjoyed the clowns, animals and especially enjoyed watching the twirling men in the big rings.
Tuesday morning found the ladies out for Beauty Boutique. Cathy brought out the summertime colors, and all went away with beautiful and bright fingernails! The afternoon was spent playing our favorite pastime, bingo. We welcome Lilla Bacon, a new volunteer who has graciously agreed to spend some of her summer vacation volunteering at our facility. Thank you to Michelle and Lilla for helping us out. Before supper, it was Happy Hour on the go, with our favorite bartender, Cathy serving up our favorite beverages.
Pastor Eide, from Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We thank her and Delores Huber for taking the time to share with us. The Giant pencil was brought out in the afternoon as we enjoyed an hour of Giant Crossword puzzles. No one had trouble seeing the words on these puzzles!
The East Dining room was the scene for our weekly Volleyball Tournament. The residents enjoy this weekly game, and we all get lots of exercise while playing. The afternoon was spent listening to the music of Rudy Rudisille, one of our favorite entertainers.
Friday morning found our Catholics in the East Dining Room for our weekly rosary. Thank you to Loretta for taking the time to lead us. Afterwards, we gathered in the Square for an hour of Gospel Music and readings provided by our volunteers, Julie, Bruce, Glen and Delores. Once again we thank them for taking the time to share with us. Friday afternoon was spent in the Square playing Dime Bingo. Before supper, the Happy Hour on the Go cart delivered cool refreshments to the residents.
Next week we look forward to our Men’s Breakfast, Bowling Tournament, and hopefully the weather will cool so that we can spend some time outside.
Until next week, stay cool!
