Glenwood City High/Middle School is proud to announce the May Students of the Month. Each month, students are chosen based on their demonstration of a predetermined characteristic. May’s characteristic was Courage; we were looking for students who are comfortable with who they are and are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
The May Student of the Month at Glenwood City High School is senior, Danielle Nelson. In nominating Danielle, Ms. Sperl and Ms. Unser stated, “Courage comes in many forms and Danielle has proven herself to be brave!” Danielle has overcome many obstacles in her life, most notably during her high school career; she has been able to face these challenges and successfully complete her secondary education, graduating with the tools and determination that will be required for her to continue her success while she is enrolled at UW-Barron County this upcoming fall. Danielle is the daughter of Danny Nelson and Deborah Nelson.
The May Student of the Month at Glenwood City Middle School is eighth grader, Connor Olson. Connor was recognized by Mr. Gaustad and Ms. Jones for his ability to have a selfless perspective at school. Mr. Gaustad stated, “Connor has shown great courage by holding true to his own self-identity.” Ms. Jones recognized Connor for his role on the district’s Technology Committee as he was the only student that was present amongst teachers, administrators and parents; not only was Connor present, but he was a contributing member who was willing to share his perspective. Connor is the son of Melisa Olson.
The administration would like to thank Charles Rasmussen, D.D.S., Hiawatha National Bank, Lane Berenschot Agency – American Family Insurance, Thrivent Financial – Joan Bartz, and the Tribune Press Reporter, along with the members of the Student of the Month Committee. Each played an important role in helping ensure the Student of the Month program was a success this past school year.
