by Samuel Ripp

BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Elk Mound golf team was in action on Tuesday, May 24 in Black River Falls at Skyline Golf Course for the WIAA Division 2 Regional Golf Meet. The Mounders finished tenth out of ten teams. Chippewa Falls McDonell Central/Eau Claire Regis finished first with a total team score of 326.

This was the last time the Mounders hit the golf course this season as they did not have anyone qualify to move on to the sectional meet.

Elk Mound ended the season with a total of 400 stokes on the afternoon. Colin Svee was the lone senior on the team and it was the last time he will participate in high school sports.

Svee finished second on the team with a score of 97 to end his high school career. Junior Jameson Rubenzer led the team with a score of a 92 and he has led the way the entire year. He will be looking to keep improving for his senior year.

Svee and Rubenzer were the only Mounders with a score under 100. Coming in third on the team was sophomore

Nathaniel Schreiber with a 104 and rounding out the scores that counted on the day was freshman Dillon McLaughlin with a 107.

Freshman Maxwell Marquardt was also out on the greens at Skyline and finished with a score of 108. The Mounders will look forward to next year with almost everyone coming back to improve their young team and make some noise next season.
