by Samuel Ripp
DURAND — The Colfax baseball team was in action on Thursday, May 5 in Durand to take on the conference leader. Durand came away with an easy victory by a score of 19-1.
The Panthers had control of this game from the very beginning and put away the Vikings in the first inning.
Durand scored twelve runs in the first inning and not even giving Colfax a chance in the game. They batted around in the first two innings. In the second inning they added seven more runs to make it nineteen to nothing before you could blink. Durand would not score the remainder of the game, but there was no need for it. Colfax could find one run in the game and it came in the fourth inning.
On the afternoon, the Vikings could only manage three hits and they went to the first three batters in the lineup. Collecting hits included: Brady Simonson, senior Zach Meyer, and senior Jarrod Rudi.
The lone RBI of the game went to Andrew Harmon.
Sophomore Brett Schindler was on the mound for the Vikings and he took the loss as he had a hard time slowing down Durand. Durand showed why they are undefeated in conference.
With just a handful of games remaining in the season, Colfax will be looking to pick up a few more victories and finish the year out strong.
Colfax will be back in action at home on Monday, May 9 against Mondovi.
