Colfax and Elk Mound struggle again at Whitetail golf course

COLFAX – The Elk Mound and Colfax golfers were back in action at Whitetail Golf Course on Thursday, April 14. Both teams struggled once again as they finished second to last and last in the meet. Colfax finished fifth, while Elk Mound finished sixth for the second straight meet.

Colfax

As a team, the Vikings were close in scores overall. Once again, senior Trevor Seston lead the way with a 44. Just four shots behind Seston was fellow senior, Brett Prince. The final three varsity golfers all finished with a score of 52. These include: senior, Trey Guillickson; senior, Andy Buckley; and sophomore, Richard Stehling.

As a team, the Vikings finished with a score of 196. After the first three meets they have a total of seven points. Colfax will be looking to improve in the next couple matches when they will be in Mondovi on Monday, April 25.

“The team is heading in the right direction and we were able to keep the team score under 200,” stated head coach Vince Ross after the meet.

Elk Mound

The Elk Mound golf team finished last for the second straight meet and will be looking to break that streak in the upcoming matches. All five varsity golfers shot in the 50s for the afternoon.

Junior Jameson Rubenzer had the best round for the Mounders with a score of 51. Right behind Rubenzer was freshman, Maxwell Marquardt who added a 53. Coming in third for the team was another freshman, this time it was Dillon McLaughlin who shot a 54. Coming in fourth and fifth for the Mounders were senior Colin Svee with a 56 and sophomore, Emily Bartig added a 58 to round out the afternoon.

The Mounders tallied a score of 214 on the afternoon as a team and will be looking to try and find their stroke on the year. The Mounders have a total of four points after three meets so far.
