Colfax-Bloomer grapplers drop pair of conference matches

Wrestlers for the Colfax-Bloomer co-op team drove a short distance and a long distance for a pair of conference meets and ended up with the same results last week. C-B lost 39-30 to Heart O’North Conference leader Cumberland Jan. 19 then took the long hike to Superior two days later and returned with a 44-30 loss. C-B is now 1-4 in conference matches.

Cumberland

Colfax-Bloomer forfeited at 106 and 145 pounds but winning their matches were Brady Simonson at 138 pounds in a pin at 3:31, Jarrod Kressin with an 8-5 decision at 152 pounds, Collin Bungartz by a pin in 2:29 at 160 pounds, Cole Anderson-Olson at 182 pounds with a fall in the first period at 1:04, Brady Hetke at 195 pounds with a pin at 2:26 and Ryan Ratcliff, competing at 285 pounds with a 3-2 decision.

Losing by pins were Cody Goettl at 113 pounds, Jared Stoll at 120 pounds, and Ike Kramschuster at 126 pounds. Dalton Schotter dropped his 132 pound match 9-4, Zack Arvold lost at 170 pounds by a score of 7-3 and Eric Wachtendonk lost 6-2 at 220 pounds.

Superior

With seven forfeits in the match, four by Superior and three by C-B, there wasn’t a lot of wrestling going on. Simonson, Kressin, Bungartz and Goettl scored team points without having to break a sweat with no opponent for them, and Arvold bounced back from his defeat at Cumberland to win by a pin at 2:44.

Stoll lost by a 9-1 major decision, Kramschuster lost by a pin at 5:08, Schotter was pinned in 1:54, Hetke lost by a major decision 15-7 and Wachtendonk went down via a fall in just .49 seconds. C-B forfeited at 113, 182 and 285 pounds.
