Colfax Health and Rehab – 1-13-2016
Oh! The weather outside is frightful, but in the Big Yellow House it’s delightful, so as long as we have nowhere to go, Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.
We have a lot to celebrate in this New Year. A Grand Gala 50th Anniversary Party, Wine Tasting and Silent Auction will be held at Colfax Health and Rehab on Saturday, January 30th. That is going to be a big festive event, but we have reason to celebrate every day.
We celebrated all our blessings at devotions, and our health that allows us to exercise and keep us as active as we can be. Especially when the chefs served entrees like ham and scalloped potatoes, baked chicken dinners, Ruben sandwiches, country fried steak. Not to mention the bars, cookies, cakes, pies and tortes.
Winter Snow men were made on Family Day in Elk Mound by parents and their children. They honored us this year as part of their “Giving to the Community” project. Everyone just loves these table decorations with their sweet faces, button eyes and noses!
We had a celebration on Tuesday with bingo and happy hour and that gave us more reason to exercise.
Pastor Les Walck from Colfax Lutheran Church gave us many reasons to celebrate life itself on Wednesday. He came and led the worship service. Delores Huber is always a musical celebration when she is our pianist. She was here on Wednesday for our church service and on Friday for our Gospel Sing. We are so thankful for her accompanying music. We do enjoy music as you may have noticed. For our pure enjoyment J.C.Colby was here Wednesday afternoon. He serenaded us while strumming on his guitar. His soft beautiful tone of voice is a celebration of sound! More cookies and coffee were enjoyed by everyone attending his concert.
On Thursday we started to carefully take down some of our Christmas Décor. It might take us a while to get everything stored away for next year. We are slow but good! We had to stop to play volleyball in the morning and to make sure that everyone who wished could get their manicure in the afternoon when the Beauty Boutique opened. By late afternoon the only ornament left on the tree was the seraph on the very top. The garland was down, the room looked so bare, but with the coming Gala we just didn’t care. Sometime soon the room will be gold with swanky décor for us to behold!
Friday afternoon’s Dime Bingo Games were sponsored by the Colfax Church Ladies. They are always a celebration when they care here. We also celebrated winter on Friday when more snow mellifluously covered the ground.
When the north pole sent us an extra “cool” surprise on Saturday with wind chills below zero we had even more to celebrate because since we have no place to go, Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
