Colfax-Bloomer grapplers compete at Huskie Invite

EAU CLAIRE — Eight wrestlers from the Colfax-Bloomer co-op team competed in the Eau Claire North Invite Dec.12 against competition from all three divisions in Wisconsin along with some Minnesota schools.

Brady Simonson claimed a second place at 145 pounds by winning his first three matches, the first two by pins and the third by a 5-2 score over his opponent from Nekoosa-Assumption-Port Edwards before losing the championship match to a Zumbrota-Mazeppa opponent by a pin with one second left in the match. Brady Hedtke placed fourth at 195 pounds, winning his first two matches and losing the next two, Cole Anderson-Olson was fifth at 182 pounds beating an Eau Claire North wrestler in the first round by a pin, then lost to an Eau Claire Memorial grappler by a pin, defeated a Wittenberg-Birnamwood wrestler in sudden victory 6-4 and won the fifth place match 4-2 against a DePere opponent.

Placing sixth was Jared Stoll at 120 pounds who was 2-2 on the day, Collin Bungartz was eighth after winning his first match and losing the next three, Stephan Snyder made his debut for the season and placed ninth at 285 pounds by winning three straight matches after losing his first one. In the match for eighth place, Snyder won in a pin at 2:31 over a Baldwin-Woodville opponent. Cody Goettl at 106 pounds finished 15th after losing his first three matches then defeating an Eau Claire Memorial wrestler in a fall at 1:58 and Austin Summerfield dropped all four of his matches at 160 pounds.
