Colfax Health and Rehab – 12-16-2015

Greetings from the Big Yellow House!!

We are having our Big Christmas Open House tomorrow December 17th from 3:30 to 7:30.  Santa and his Elf will be here making a list and checking it twice. He does know if you’ve been naughty or nice.

He knows Tammy Suvada was very nice. She brought a team of horses on Saturday. Everyone was tickled to see them in our parking lot!

On Sunday afternoon almost everyone in Colfax was nice. We attributed it to the end of the Packer game.

Monday afternoon was also pleasant. Grandma (AKA Judy Fergurson) and the Ukulele Lady (AKA Rhonda Whitman) came to entertain us with their skits and music. They brought doll houses and sang. The Ukulele Lady played her ukulele and our new piano. Rhonda made the piano sing because it had been wonderfully tuned.

On Tuesday morning the Beauty Boutique opened in the Square. Soak’um, clean’um, clip’um and polish’um pretty! Nice! After all one can’t expect people to play Bingo and go to Happy Hour with naughty nails. Another nice treat was the 4-H Comets who came at 5 to sing Christmas Carols for everyone. Thank you for making our day so nice and enjoyable!

We had a nice Church service Wednesday morning. Pastor Eide from Shepherd of the Hills Church in Elk Mound led the service. More delightfully nice music could be heard in the Square in the afternoon. It was show time with “Honey and Me”. Diane Schindler and Don are so clever. They played a selection of nice Christmas carols and some naughty polkas. “She’s too fat for me” is not a standard Christmas Carol. But everyone seemed to get in the spirit of things. The nice polite, well-behaved kids in the confirmation class from Shepherd of the Hills Church in Elk Mound arrived about 5 p.m. to sing Christmas Carols. Even the weather was nice on Wednesday.

The weather won’t get much for Christmas, though, because Thursday it was naughty. It was raining cat and dogs (that is just a rhetorical device that achieves a special effect). In the afternoon the Love Light Program was well attended. It was so nice to see everyone. Nice hot coffee and cookies a plenty were enjoyed by all!

On Friday morning there was Rosary in the east dining lounge. Loretta is so nice to lead that for our Catholic folks every week. Gospel sing was held in the Square. Delores Huber was our pianist on Wednesday, Thursday and on Friday. Our Volunteers are so nice to give so much of their time and talents. Julie plays the flute, Bruce plays the guitar, and good-natured Glen uses his voice to lead the group (he is undeniably on the nice list). The chef was pretty nice today too. She made everyone pizza and salad for dinner. We have it so good with wonderful meals and something happening all day long. The Junior High Choir was what was happening at 1:30. They brought their smiling faces and big voices to sing for us. Carrie Christensen is the choir director and always does an exceptionally nice job. Before the kids went back to school they were treated to Christmas sugar cookies heavily frosted and nicely decorated. We transformed the Square from concert set up to Bingo and Happy Hour arrangement. Nice Job Cathy and Veda. They are also on the nice list.

Saturday morning was our Employee Breakfast with Santa. Of course Santa and his Elf were here for photo ops. His nice list got much longer that day. Rich Schroeder was added for the music he provided. The evening was very special because the Christmas Ballet was once again performed. Penny’s Dance Studio dance troupe is one of the highlights of our Christmas Season. Nice does not do justice to their performance.

That is a little of the news from the big Yellow House here in the land of Colfax where the men are always nice and the women are too! Remember he knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, so you better be good for goodness sake!
