Colfax approves $1.14 million 2016 budget and $463,000 tax levy

COLFAX  —  Following a public hearing on the 2016 budget, the Colfax Village Board has approved a $1.14 million budget for 2016 along with a property tax levy of $463,088.

The village board held the budget hearing December 10.

Village President Scott Gunnufson kept the public hearing open for about 15 minutes to allow anyone  from the public who might be running late additional time to reach the village hall.

Although two members of the public were present at the public hearing, neither of them wished to speak about the 2016 budget.

The Village of Colfax’s revenue budget of $1,149,628 compares to the 2015 budget of $1,130,979, representing an $18,649 increase.

The Village of Colfax’s expense budget of $1,142,879 compares to the 2015 budget of $1,130,895, representing a $9,984 increase.

The biggest line item increase in the 2016 expense budget is $9,102 for administration — going from $144,631 in 2015 to $153,786 in 2016.

The biggest line item decrease in the 2016 expense budget is $11,142 for streets — going from $192,111 in 2015 to $180,969 in 2016.
