Extra, Extra Read all about it! The Big Yellow House has been very busy this week. People have been seen coming and going at all hours.
It has been reported that on Monday the people living in the house all gathered for their annual carving of the pumpkins. Over 30 pumpkins big and small were seen in the Square. When the ritual was over very scary faces, with gruesome smiles were noted (on the pumpkins that is). After the knives were safely removed they said it was time for Sundae Monday to begin. Whereas butterscotch, strawberry and chocolate syrup was seen covering all the ice cream and then to make matters worse; chopped nuts, whipped cream and small red balls were heaped over all the top of the creamy mountain. Later it was discovered the small red balls were simply cherries. During the evening many of people were seen propelling large colored balls at each other in the Rotunda. When asked who was responsible for such behavior? The only response was laughter.
The following morning the ball flinging resumed in the Square. They called it Volleyball, but no volleyball was observed, only an outrageous large balloon. Wednesday afternoon the Square was used for another Halloween time-honored pastime. It consisted of spooky cats, dogs and other stuffed creatures that were launched into the air. The last thing seen was the ghost and a pumpkin with legs flying as they flew thru the atmosphere. That is definitely taking bean bag to a new level!
Not to be outdone Thursday afternoon more entertainment took place in the Square. Grandma Judy and the Ukulele Lady unobtrusively arrived in the Square with all manner of contraptions. They had pumpkins and witches, narratives and music. They played piano, ukulele and sang many songs. Upon further investigation the people who live in this big house seem to do nothing but dine and amuse themselves. However the Square is used for Bingo on Tuesday and Friday afternoons and is also used for Church on Wednesday mornings and they have a Gospel Sing on Friday morning. Some of the people who were responsible for the shenanigans and goings on this week were Michelle van Vulpen, Eileen Stokke, Delores Huber, Glen Edberg, Bruce Schroeder, Veda Kiekhofer, Pastor Conklin, Julie McNaughton, River Boat Randy, Judy Ferguson, Rhonda Whitman, Swamp Woman and Vonnie Flesberg.
In the future we heard that there are plans for the local kindergarten kids to come and sing frightening Halloween songs on the 30th.
With the Holiday Season just around the corner we will keep you posted and up to date on what has happened and what to expect here in the Land of Colfax. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
