Mounder runners prepare for conference meet at Card Invite

The Elk Mound girls’ cross country team placed runners in the 2, 3 and 4 spots but it wasn’t enough to win the meet held at Eleva-Strum Oct. 8. Elizabeth Fasbender was the runner up in 21:29 followed by Alana Plaszcz in 21:58 and Brook Plaszcz in 22:23 as the Mounders were third of four teams. The boys, led by Nate Kruger’s 18th place in a time of 19:32 finished fourth of six teams.

The fourth runner in for the Mounder girls was Meredith Hainstock for 27th place in 24:58, followed by Hanna Hollister in 30th at 25:35, Ciera Lind in 31st at 25:37, Nevada LaPoint in 34th in 25:58, Kaitlyn Baier in 36th at 26:24 and Audrey Westcott was 39th at 27:32. Also completing the race was Mattea Linberg in 41st at 28:06, Elayna Gutsch on her heels in 42nd at 28:08, Corrine Zimmer in 46th at 28:41, Hannah Carlson in 47th at 28:48 and Mary Temke in 58th at 35:35. The race was won by Falon Immorino of Thorp-Gilman in 20:47.

Coming in after Kruger was Hayden Kohls for 24th place in 20:06, Grant Kjellberg was 28th at 20:53, Ryan Mohr followed in 33rd at 21:10, Jameson Rubenzer was 34th at 21:11, Bowdrie Noller came in for 37th at 21:19, Matt McLaughlin was close behind in 38th at 21:35, Nate Schreiber in 40th at 21:40, Jake Johnson 41st in 21:45, Dylan Hanson 45th in 22:04, Erik Strand was 50th in 22:44 and Jared Strand 51st at 22:48. Nic Parcloe of Black River Falls won the contest in 17:02.

“Both teams ran well after a hard week of practice under windy conditions,” coach Jeremiah Fredrickson said. “It was a good tune up for us as we head into the conference meet this week.”

The conference meet will be held for the first time in Durand on Thursday, Oct. 15.
