ALTOONA — The Elk Mound girls defeated Division 1 Eau Claire Memorial along with Lake Holcombe but lost matches to state ranked Stanley-Boyd and Cameron at the Altoona Invitational volleyball tournament held Oct. 10.

In the Memorial match, the Mounders lost the first set 14-25 but came back for wins at 26-24 and 15-6. Hannah Flatness led in kills with 10 while Morgan Radtke slammed five. Madysen Borofka finished with 11 assists, two ace serves and eight digs, Abbey Olsen picked up 11 digs while Serena Wieser and Allie Weber both collected nine digs and Kari Jo Nigon added 11 assists.

In the 25-18, 25-23 win over Lake Holcombe, Flatness led in kills with 13 while Radtke slammed seven and had a pair of blocks. Nigon was tops in assists with 14 with a couple of ace serves to go with seven digs, and Wieser came up with 13 digs while Olsen added six and Borofka set her teammates up nine times.

Elk Mound played Stanley-Boyd pretty tough, dropping the first set 16-25 and the second one 23-25. But the taller S-B players (two are going to play college at Division 1 schools next year), shut the Mounders down up front as Flatness and Wieser both had just four kills to lead the team. Weber put down two service aces and led in digs with nine while Nigon added six assists and Flatness five digs.

In a 18-25, 22-25 loss to Cameron, the team finished with only 13 kills, five by Radtke. Nigon and Borofka both had six assists, while Wieser led in the dig department with 10 and Weber added eight.
