Colfax Health and Rehab – 10-7-2015

What an interesting and diverse week. Outdoors it was summer on Sunday with the hot sunshine and a spectacular Harvest Moon that night. Then it was spring on Monday with all the rain falling off and on all day.

The rest of the week it was categorically fall with threat of frosts as the temperature hovered around 60 during the day and dipped into the low 30’s at night. Here in the Big Yellow House the climate was perfect every day and the décor was the only hint of falls.

The musical climate was enhanced on Monday afternoon when Rudy Rudesill Singer and Songwriter entertained us with his acoustic guitar and vocals. Coffee and cookies were served after the performance as he visited with residents.

The temperature in the Square may have gotten a bit warmer on Tuesday afternoon when the Bingo players arrived. Anxious anticipate always creates good energy. The beverages and snacks served after Bingo helped to warm the hearts of everyone. Eileen and Michelle helped residents by passing out the prizes.

Wednesday morning was our 2nd monthly men’s breakfast. 16 of our male resident arrived in the Square and were greeted by Tim who hosted the breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, juices, milk, and coffee were served. The kitchen Goddess prepared the food and Tim and Matt made sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink.

At 10 a.m. Pastor Wick from Bethany Church in Colfax led the church service. Delores Huber was the pianist.

After dinner the ladies had their special Beauty Boutique in the Square. A couple of residents went on a joy ride in the afternoon in search of colored leaves. When few were found they headed for the Dairy Queen and appeased their disappointment by indulging in big malts!

Thursday was October 1st. We celebrated with a game of volleyball. Laughter and loud noises could be heard. Residents literally got a bang out of the game when the ball popped!

That afternoon we had our monthly resident council meeting. The October calendars were previewed and residents discussed things they would like to do in the future. They said they were looking forward to the Joy Rides and the October Fest that are coming up this month. Yes, unlike the rest of the world we have October Fest in October. Good food and cold beer will reign supreme on October 14th at noon!

On Friday morning we all settled down and went to a gospel sing in the Square. Glen, Bruce, Julie and Delores led the Sing. They bring us such good spiritual blessings. In the afternoon it was once again Dime Bingo time, followed by Happy Hour of course.

On Saturday, residents played Hollywood with Sue and following coffee and cookies Tim’s cribbage players took over the Square.

There is always something to enjoy here in beautiful downtown Colfax, which was recently voted one of the top 10 places in Wisconsin “To get away from it all”! If you need to get away from it all come tour our picturesque facility, and see for yourself. Just a note: the staff and residents are what make our building Most Beautiful!!
