Lots of other fun but. . . no pedal tractor pull at Firefighters’ Ball

By LeAnn R. Ralph

COLFAX — Unfortunately, there will be no pedal tractor pull at this year’s Colfax Firefighters’ Ball Saturday, September 12.

“There was a mis-scheduling, so we will not be having a pedal tractor pull this year,” said Don Logslett, Colfax fire chief.

The pedal tractor pull, which generally draws dozens of children to participate, has been held in the afternoon at the fairgrounds after the penny hunt and auction.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience. It is due to circumstances beyond our control,” Logslett said.

The Colfax firefighters plan to have the pedal tractor pull back next year for the 2016 Colfax Firefighters’ Ball.

The grand parade for the Firefighters’ Ball starts at noon on Main Street on Saturday, September 12. Line up for the grand parade will be at the Colfax High School parking lot.

At the Colfax Fairgrounds after the parade will be the chicken dinner, penny hunt, live auction and a bean bag tournament at 4 p.m.

The chicken dinner, barbecues, hotdogs and beverages will start at 11 a.m., and the firefighters will be serving food until it runs out.

If you would like to participate in the parade, contact Otis at 715-505-3669 or Chris at 715-309-9830. If you have good salable items to donate for the auction, call Gary Hill at 715-962-4407 or Harvey Flesberg at 715-225-9730.

The Hell-Country Truckers will be playing in the beer tent from 8 p.m. until midnight. The beer tent will be open at 11 a.m.

The Hell-Country Truckers, described as a traditional country band, features Bronson Bergeson (lead guitar); Jake Galzki (acoustic guitar); Tim (Buck) Paulson (bass); and Aaron Seevers (drums).

The firefighters will be holding a cash raffle with a first place of $500; second place of $250; third place of $100; and fourth, fifth and sixth place of $50. You can buy your tickets from any Colfax firefighter. You need not be present to win. The drawing will be held Saturday, September 12, at 11 p.m.

This year marks the 48th Annual Colfax Firefighters’ Ball.
