A WORD TO THE WISE
by Dr. Walter Olsen
What is the chief or main responsibility of the Christian? Of course, many things pertain to living the Christian life. Yet, there is one thing that reigns above all else.
It is something that includes everything else. The Apostle Paul referred to this when he said, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31). The believer acknowledges that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for our sins. He knows that, apart from Him, one has no hope for the future, but with Him one has indeed a glorious future! He also has some idea of who God is. He knows that He is the eternal, holy, righteous, just, and loving God. The believer knows that God is the Creator of the universe and all things in it. He also knows that God has a plan for the future of the world and all that is in it. The believer has experienced the grace of God in the forgiveness of his sins. He know what it is to face the future with great confidence because of who God is and all He has done and will do on his behalf. It is therefore the natural response of a redeemed heart to glorify God in all he does, not as a rule to be obeyed so much, but as the response of a thankful heart!
