Colfax welcomes two new teachers for 2015-16 school year

COLFAX — A pair of Colfax High School graduates have accepted elementary teaching positions in their home district for the upcoming year.

Kirk Secraw will be the new third grade teacher after teaching in the 4K program at St. Paul’s Catholic School in Bloomer the past two years and serving as a substitute teacher for Colfax five years. He earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from UW-Stout in 2010 and is looking forward to teaching in his hometown and getting involved in the community. Secraw earned varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball for the Vikings and plans to help out in the coaching department somewhere in the future.

Courtney Doucette is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Crookston with an Elementary Education degree. She also served as a substitute teacher in the Colfax district and has been a volunteer cross country coach. While in high school she participated in cross country, track and basketball and she hopes to do some coaching in the future. She loves the Colfax school, staff, administration and community and is happy to have the chance to teach here.
