COLFAX — A house on 700th Street in the Town of Tainter was completely destroyed by an early morning fire August 2.
According to a spokesperson for the Menomonie Fire Department, the fire was called in by a neighbor at 4:35 a.m. Sunday morning.
The home, located at N8981 700th Street and owned by Paul Friedrich, was a total loss.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The Colfax Fire Department was called out for mutual aid, and the Sand Creek and Boyceville fire departments were requested to bring tenders for additional water supply, the spokesperson said.
The Colfax Rescue Squad also was called out.
Although there were other houses around the home that burned down, the fire was contained to the structure.
A husband, wife and their 17-year-old daughter lived in the house, and the family was referred to the Red Cross for assistance, the spokesperson said.
Firefighters remained on the scene for three hours.
Even though the home has a Colfax address, the entire Town of Tainter is in the Menomonie fire district.
