What is the difference between the gods of the world and the true God? Of course, there are many differences but an essential one is given in the Psalms where we read, “For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord has made the heavens” (Psa. 96:5).
Only the true, living God can create anything out of nothing. As we read elsewhere in Scripture, the gods of the world cannot hear or speak or do anything that is indicative of life. Of God we read, “Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary…Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. O, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth” (Psa 96:6-9). Yes, there is a world of difference between the gods of the world and the true, living God. It is a difference of life and all that attends it. Is it not incumbent on the whole world to tremble before Him, to acknowledge Him for who He truly is? How very thankful we can be if we know the true and living God. He makes Himself available to all who will trust His Son for the forgiveness of their sins!
