CADOTT — Playing on the par 72 Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott, the Colfax golf team did not advance anyone into the sectional meet, thus ending the season for coach Vince Ross and his Viking club.
Colfax placed ninth of 11 teams with a total score of 389 which was their best score in a regional meet under coach Ross. The host team Cadott won the meet with a 319.
“The course was wet but the kids were able to play lift clean and place the ball so that helped them,” Ross said. “It was a sunny day finally with a little breeze.”
Trevor Seston led the Vikings with a round of 90 with a 44 on the back nine for 20th place and freshman Treyton Teige was consistent with a 49 on the front and back nine for a round of 98 for 30th place.
“Trevor was great on the greens with his putting,” Ross said. “Treyton almost had a hole in one on the sixth hole and knocked in an eight inch putt for his first birdie. He had the best round of his career as a high school golfer.”
Brett Prince shot a 100 for 36th place, Trey Gullickson was a shot back at 101 for 36th and Andrew Buckley was 50th with a 125. Thomas Longbella of McDonell Central was the medalist with a 69. The top four teams and top four individuals not on those teams moved on to sectionals.
“I am excited we have the whole team back for next year and I hope they work on their golfing skills during the summer to get better,” Ross concluded.
