Colfax Health and Rehab News – 6-3-2015

The news this week is all good, that is because the people who live in, work in or come to visit the Big Yellow House can always find something to be happy about. Each day starts with a wholesome breakfast served to perfection by our sagacious Chefs. What’s not to be happy about when you decide to get up and you’re served a breakfast of your choice while enjoying the company of your friends at the table and when you return to your room you find it has been cleaned. The only thing to decide is what to do next. The choices are many. Take a nap, read a book, or go to one of the activity programs scheduled each day.

Monday was Memorial Day so many residents had company and many went with their families for a picnic. Monday evening Heidi Kroll and the 22ers 4H kids planted flowers in some of the courtyard raised beds and on the patio by Sandy Ridge. The residents appreciate all for your thoughtfulness. Happiness comes in many forms.

On Tuesday morning it was the Beauty Boutique that fostered smiles and happiness. Bingo in the afternoon was followed by Happy Hour which was another reason residents had a smile on their faces.

The church service Wednesday morning gave residents a chance to give thanks. This week we were happy to have Pastor Schroetter from Barum, Big Elk Creek in Elk Mound lead the service. “Happy”came in many forms that day. At high noon it came in the form of 60+ kindergarten children. In they came giggly, wiggly and definitely ready for the annual Kindergarten Picnic we have hosted for many years. After they had eaten they came into the Square and sang several lively songs for the residents. Great Job to all the teachers and the music director!

On Thursday morning residents lined up in the Square and “Happily” played volleyball. More good news in the afternoon was the arrival of the Schindler team called “Honey and Me”. Their polka music always draws a crowd; in fact they have “groupies”. Several people from the area go to many of their out of town performances.

On Friday morning the Gospel Sing and Rosary kept our “Happy” alive and well. Glen, Julie and Delores and Loretta do a great job every Friday! Dime Bingo was the afternoon activity. Happy Hour started at 3 p.m. Bounce ball in the Rotunda at 6 p.m. and ice cream treats before bed all contributed to another good day.

As the week happily rolled along here in the land of Colfax residents and their families had much to be happy about. If you haven’t seen our campus we invite you to come and see for yourself why we are a “5 Star” facility. You will be “Happy” you did!
