EM Salutatorian: Lucas Winter

ELK MOUND — Lucas Winter is the salutatorian of the Elk Mound High School graduating class of 2015.

Lucas is the son of Terry and David Winter of Elk Mound.

The Colfax Messenger sent out a questionnaire for the salutatorian and here are his answers:

1. Describe the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school.

This past summer, I had the opportunity to go to Florida with all my fellow band classmates to perform in a Disney Parade. Our parade unfortunately got cancelled due to weather, but we decided to perform a flash mob/parade on a beach instead. It was a full week of riding roller coasters and laughing that I will never forget.

2. List your favorite high school classes and explain why they were your favorites.

Advanced English will be the most memorable class I’ve taken because some fellow classmates and I decided to make a large number of short films for all of the stories that we read in class. They were always a lot of fun to make.

3. What activities were you involved with during high school. What was your favorite?

Cross Country, Track, E-Club, National Honor Society, and Cross Country Skiing.

Cross Country was definitely my favorite activity I’ve been involved in. I put in countless numbers of miles running with some of my best friends over four years. Along with the friendships and fun, I’ve pushed my body further than I thought I ever could.

4. What are your plans after graduation?

I am going to be enjoying my remaining time with all my friends I’ve made throughout school until I go to my job as an assistant counselor at a summer camp in Northern Wisconsin. I’ve been going there since I was 10 years old and really look forward to going back again.

5. Are you planning to attend college or technical school?

I am going to be attending Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, next year. I am currently undecided on what I want to major in, but Pre-med, mathematics, and computer sciences all interest me.
