Nine honor students at Glenwood City High School

GLENWOOD CITY — The Glenwood City High School class of 2015 has nine honor students.

Lydia NaaAshie McClelland

Lydia is the daughter of Steven and Joana NaaAshie McClelland.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. I have enjoyed many experiences but the highlights would include the Costa Rica Trip, acting in “Footloose” and “Joseph”, Chanhassen, Honors Choir, Marching Band, and the many hours spent laughing with classmates and teachers.

• List your favorite high school classes. Choir – I love singing; Spanish – While I may not be the best  student, but I enjoy learning new languages and the experiences it gives me; History – I find history fascinating and enjoy learning in general; Chemistry/Physics – well the class is fun and I enjoy the practical applications and mentions of space and stuff.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Solo/Ensemble – all years, getting a 1* Junior and Senior year; Forensics – Freshman year; Newspaper – Freshman/Sophomore year; FCCLA – Freshman year; Tech Ed – Sophomore year; DECA – Senior Year; Yearbook – Senior Year; History Club – Senior Year (one of the founding fathers).

• What are your plans after graduation? I’ve had the privilege of finishing all of my generals, thanks to this school. I’m currently on the waiting list for RN in WITC and CVTC. I also plan on working at Bethel, the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Megan Samens

Megan is the daughter of Chris and Kathy Samens.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Participating in the musical “Joseph”, pre-game sing-a-longs in volleyball, choir hour before the band kids got there, homecoming freshman year when I got wiped out before the end zone.

• List your favorite high school classes. Human Anatomy because of all our potlucks; Physics because it was always interesting with Ketola and our small class. Choir because that’s just always amazing.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Volleyball: 2011-2015; Softball: 2011-2015; Basketball: 2011-2015; Student Council: 2011-2015; NHS: 2012-2015; Art Club: 2012-2015; Show Choir: 2011-2015; Honors Choir: 2015; Class Officer: 2012-2015.

• What are your plans after graduation? I will be attending Winona State University and majoring in Nursing. During summer I will be teaching swimming lessons at our local pool and working at the my friend’s farm when I can.

Kaitlin Konder

Kaitlin is the daughter of Kraig and Maureen Konder.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. My most memorable event during high school was going to state in Cross Country and being the first team to do it in school history.

• List your favorite high school classes. My favorite high school classes were agriculture classes because I love the topic of agriculture and I can relate to all the classes that there are to offer.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? FFA (2009-2015); National Honor Society (2013-2015); 4-H (2004-2015); Cross Country (2008-2014); Track and Field (2009-2015); Class of 2015 Treasurer (2011-2012); Class of 2015 Vice President (2014-2015).

• What are your plans after graduation? After graduation, I am running for State FFA Officer in June. This fall I am attending the University of Wisconsin – River Falls for Pre-Veterinary Medicine. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I plan to attend the University of Minnesota to earn a degree in Veterinary Medicine to become a large animal veterinarian.

Troy Hall

Troy is the son of Jodi and Dennis Hall.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Going to state for football my Junior year.

• List your favorite high school classes. Physics, Kip; Light construction, getting to rebuild our trailer; Human Anatomy, getting to learn how the body works.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Boy Scouts – 4 years; football – 2 years; Tech Ed Club – 1 year; NHS – 3 years.

• What are your plans after graduation? I am going to boot camp for the Marine Corps.

Marcus Kadinger

Marcus is the son of Mike and Jodi Kadinger.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Leading basketball team to winning records the last two years; participating in the school’s musical production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.

• List your favorite high school classes. I enjoyed taking more advanced courses like Spanish, Physics, and Calculus because they provided a challenge and will help prepare me for education at the university level.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Basketball (2011-2015); Track and Field (2012-2015); Football (2011-2013); Choir (2015); National Honors Society (2013-2015).

• What are your plans after graduation? I will be working at Kadinger’s Auto Salvage in the summer before attending Marian University of Fond Du Lac, WI in the fall. I plan to major in Sports Management.

Jacob Hierlmeier

Jacob is the son of Angela and Gordy Hierlmeier.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Winning State Football during my sophomore year was my most memorable event. The pride it brought to our community, our team, and myself is something I will never forget.

• List your favorite high school classes. Two of my favorite classes in high school were Chemistry and Physics with Mr. Ketola. I enjoyed both of these subjects and Mr. Ketola is a great teacher with outstanding teaching methods.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Football, basketball, golf, band, choir for all four years of high school. All-school production in 2014 and 2012. DECA as a freshman, NHS from 2012-2015.

• What are your plans after graduation? This summer I will be working at Glen Hills Golf Course until I leave for MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. I will be playing golf and majoring in Biology with a Pre-Med track.

Hannah Steinberger

Hannah is the daughter of Richard and Donnette Steinberger.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Winning State Football; Being in the same Math classes with Megan; Managing the boys at State wrestling.

• List your favorite high school classes. Geometry, Algebra 2, Advanced Math, and AP Calculus. These were my favorite classes throughout high school because I had teachers I liked, my classmates were always fun, and I like math.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Cross Country – 9th, 10th and half of 11th; Band – 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th; Wrestling – 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th; Track – 9th, 10th, 11th.

• What are your plans after graduation? I plan to continue to work at Glenhaven as a CNA all summer. I will be attending college at UW-La Crosse and I will be in the pre-med program.

Kristie Knops

Kristie is the daughter of Kim and Brenda Knops.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. State football, being a part of all the sports teams.

• List your favorite high school classes. Chemistry and Physics with Ketola were always fun. Loved being in Spanish because it challenged me and I learned a lot.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? Basketball (9th-12th), volleyball (9th-12th), track (9th-10th), NHS (10th-12th), Tech Club (9th-10th), Art Club (12th), Captain of varsity basketball team (11th-12th), Homecoming Queen (12th).

• What are your plans after graduation? During the summer after graduation I plan to get my CNA license. I am going to UW-Eau Claire next year and plan to major in Nursing and minor in Spanish. I also hope to travel/study abroad for a year in college.

Hannah Ludtke

Hannah is the daughter of Jon and Kirsten Ludtke.

• List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Favorite memories of mine would definitely include the Orlando Band Trip because it was so amazing to perform in Disney World and it was fun. I also loved all of my Art Club trips such as Haunted Houses and Milwaukee trip. Being in “Footloose”. Also, sports such as State football and Cross Country, more fun to watch.

• List your favorite high school classes. My favorite high school classes were Human Anatomy, AP World History, Band, and Horticulture. Human Anatomy because I enjoy all the vocab we learned about the different systems. AP World History because I love history and it actually challenged me. Band because I love music and all the fun we have. Horticulture because I enjoyed the outdoors and learning about plants and agriculture.

• What activities were you involved in during high school? National Honor Society – 3 years; Student Council – 4 years; 4-H members – 9 years; Art Club – 4 years; Varsity Softball – 4 years; Varsity Volleyball – 2 years; Marching Band – 6 years; Show Choir: 5 years; Honors Band – 3 years; Concert Band and Choir – 8 years; Volunteer for Lions Club and Historical Society: 8 years.

• What are your plans after graduation? I plan on attending UW-River Falls to become a Pre-Veterinarian major. I will be working on my family farm during the summer, too.
