The Colfax softball team raised their record above .500 with a 15-7 win at home over Spring Valley May 18.
On yet another cold and windy day, the bats were ringing (and stinging) early for the Vikings as they took a 4-0 lead after the first inning when Mikaela Leibfried, Lakken Meredith, Courtney Ottinger, Becca Lee and Natalie Dvorak, (playing in her first varsity game), banged out singles with walks to Kori Buchanan and Dailyn Mortenson in the mix. The Cardinals came back with three runs in the second but the Vikings put runs across in each of the next five innings to make sure Spring Valley remained winless on the year.
Meredith allowed 10 hits with six strikeouts and two walks to gain the win and also led in the hitting department going 3 for 4 with a homerun and four RBIs. Buchanan finished 2 for 3 with both hits being triples and she knocked in three runs, Ottinger was 2 for 5 with an RBI and Lee brought in a pair of runs on a base hit.
