Both the Colfax and Elk Mound golf teams ended their conference meet season by placing fifth and sixth respectively at a conference meet at St. Croix Central May 11. The weather was less than ideal for golfing with the temperature in the low 50s with sporadic rain throughout the match.
Low man for the Vikings was Trevor Seston with a round of 46 for the nine holes while Trey Gullickson nearly broke the 50 mark by carding a 51. Brett Prince scored a 53, Andrew Buckley vastly improved from his last match by shooting a 59 and Trenton Anderson finished with a 61. Jason Richardson of Spring Valley was the medalist with a 37.
“It was difficult for our kids to hit the small greens and our scores were low due to the cool weather conditions,” Colfax coach Vince Ross said.
The Mounders were led by Jameson Rubenzer with a 50 and five strokes back was Corey Hagberg. Mark Dickenson shot a 57, Jonah LaRock a 59 and Tim Lambele carded a 64.
“The cool and rainy conditions made it difficult for our team to score well,” coach Annie Kongshaug said. “We are looking to improve our scores in the conference tournament next week.”
Both teams will compete in the 18 hole conference tournament in Spring Valley, Tuesday, May 19.
TEAM SCORES: Mondovi 167, Glenwood City 169, Spring Valley 176, St. Croix Central 187, Colfax 211, Elk Mound 221.
