It looks like it! It feels like it! It even smells like it! It came just in the nick of time too! What is it? Why it is Spring time in Colfax. Here at the Big Yellow House we couldn’t wait any longer. The windows were opened, and Spring flowed in. The fragrance of fresh cut grass, the perfume of early flowers and the crisp heady aroma of the rain were welcomed by the residents as though they were long lost friends.
On Monday morning at devotions and exercise some of the residents had already been outside after breakfast just to take it all in. We had musical entertainment in the afternoon. 2 p.m. was Rag Time. Jim Radloff tickled the keys and had everyone tapping their toes and clapping their hands. Our old piano seemed as happy to have the attention as did the residents. There was much to be happy about including the fresh baked cookies and bars that were served after the performance.
Tuesday the Beauty Boutique was as busy as can be in the morning. Manicured hands twinkled when residents arrived at Bingo in the afternoon. We had to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Sombreros and Margaritas and a few maracas provided the atmosphere for a happy Happy Hour.
On Wednesday morning we had our weekly Church service. Pastor Barb led the service. She plays the guitar and does a dandy job of it too! In the afternoon we had our Monthly Bowling Tournament. Lois Hayes walked away with the trophy.
On Thursday morning the volleyball crew lined up in the Square and room soon was filled with laughter and merriment. The afternoon activity was more subdued. Popcorn, Root beer and more videos from the Ed Sullivan hour helped fill the afternoon hours. River boat Randy filled up the evening hours with his interactive entertainment.
On Friday morning Loretta led the Rosary. Glen and Julie led the Gospel Sing and Delores was our pianist. The week’s entertainment was not over yet. We had Dime Bingo in the afternoon followed by another Happy Hour. The volunteers that come every week are awesome. There is Veda, Linnea, Violet, Eileen, Leona, Barb, Merl, Mary, Vonnie, Kathy, the pianists, ministers and the priests. Thank you all!
That is just a bit of the goings on here in the land of Colfax where the men are strong and good looking and the women are so glad to bare a bit of their beauty too! (We are talking about flip flops).
