Colfax boys and girls place second in home track meet

With the weather forecast calling for showers around the area on May 7, the rain held off allowing the home track meet at Colfax to be completed. Both the boys and girls teams ended up in second place in the four team meet with the top six places earning team points.

The girls were led by three individual firsts and a relay. Courtney Dressel won the 3200 m run  (13:28.51), Dannielle Dachel won the 1600 m run  (6:10.79), Dempsey Fogarty took the 800 m run  (2:29.86) and the 4 X 800 relay with Dachel, Dressel, Mackenzie Jensen and Fogarty also won  (10:30.60). There were plenty of second places including Abbagail Schotter in the 1600  (6:17.42), Katie Christoffel in the 300 m hurdles (53.29), Jensen in the 800 (2:41.50), Ally Heidorn in the 200 m dash (28.28), Marianne Scharlau in the shot put (31-07.50),and the 4 X 100 relay with Caroline Dworak,Alyssa Miller, Megan Schleusner and Erin Nellessen (58.77).

Christoffel was third in the 100 m hurdles (18.62) while Ally Heidorn was third in the triple jump (30-02.50). Fourths were claimed by Schotter in the 800 (2:50.36) and the 3200 (14:04.71). Scharlau in the discus (83-04.25) and Jezz Tweed and Dworak in the pole vault (5-06).Bryana Buchanan took fifth in the 100 m dash (14.03), Scharlau in the high jump (4-02) and Alexis Rudi in the shot put (24-10.50).And eighth places came from Nellessen in the 100 m dash (15.06) and Tweed in the 800 (3:11.80).

Four different boys won an event for the Vikings including Zack Arvold the 400 (57.02), Jelani Smit the 300 hurdles (44.19), Andrew Adix the 200 m dash (23.74) and Ben Kragness the shot put (47-07.50). A lot of second place finishes were recorded including Kragness in the discus (126-03), Smit in the 110 hurdles (17.24), Jacob Larson the 400 m dash (58.02), Hunter Leiffort and Kamdon Quast the pole vault (9-00), and three relays. including the 4 X 100 with Jeremiah Wait, Jacob Steinke, Brad Foyt and Adix (46.06) and the same four runners in the 4 X 200 (1:35.00) and also the 4 X 400 with Arvold, Larson, Tucker Hovde and Brett Prince (3:54.95).

Thirds came by way of Wait in the 100 m dash (11.91), Jacob Klukas in the 400 (58.38) and Isaac Lee in the long jump (17-03) while Hovde added a fourth in the 1600, breaking the 5.00  mark (4:59.46) and Steinke in the 200 m dash (25.33). Foyt earned a fifth place in the 200 m dash (25.51) as did Wait in the long jump (16-10.75) while Lee was sixth in the 800 (2:19.25). Smit added a seventh in the 100 m dash (12.42) and Prince in the 800 (2:19.29 and in eighth place were Arvold in the 800 (2:22.50), Adam Pretasky in the 200 m dash (26.62) and Spencer Herrick in the discus ( 85-05).
