Now to put the current news into perspective. Sunday we enjoyed a Spring rain. There was plenty of hot coffee and cookies to warm up the atmosphere for residents and their guests.
By Monday morning the Spring weather was transformed into a stony, blustery, drizzling, grim day. Inside our residents were not deterred by the weather. Every day is a pleasant day when you live in the Big Yellow House. Many residents came to devotions, reading and exercise in the morning. The afternoon’s entertainers, Chuck Kirkwood and Friends treated the residents with music for 1 & 3/4 hours. That evening bounce ball took place on schedule.
On Tuesday morning the unpredictable Spring weather was still pretending to be winter. Inside we didn’t care. We gathered in the morning for devotions, reading and exercise. In the afternoon the bingo hall was packed with residents anxious to win. Happy hour and more bounce ball kept spirits high.
On Wednesday morning Jordan Herrick led the Church Service. The bowling tournament in the afternoon was well attended. All were competing for the trophy, but alas only one can win and that was Clarice Furey. Congratulations Clarice!
On Thursday morning our regularly scheduled volley ball was well attended. The afternoon Giant Cross Word puzzle in the Square was a quiet way to relax and it was thought provoking. River Boat Randy entertained residents in the evening with his interactive singing and guitar. He is a music therapist and is very appreciated by the residents.
On Friday morning we had the Rosary led by Loretta. Glen, Julie and Delores led the Gospel Sing. Dime Bingo and Happy Hour were the afternoon programs.
By the time Saturday rolled around everyone was ready for a slower pace. Friends and family members’ visits make the weekends pleasant. With all the scheduled activity programs and Midwest Therapy on sight for both In and Out patients we keep the coffee and cookies fresh and warm so no matter why you come to the Big Yellow House you will always feel welcome.
