Golfing in cold and windy conditions in Glenwood City April 20, the Elk Mound golf team struggled and finished sixth in the meet made up of the six conference teams, then saw weather conditions improve three days later when they played a match in Mondovi. The results weren’t much better teamwise as they finished sixth again.
Jonah LaRock was the only Mounder to crack the 50 mark as he carded a 48 for the day, placing him 17th. Tim Lambele was next in with a 56 for 25th place and Corey Hagberg was just a stroke back at 57 for 27th place. Jameson Rubenzer shot a 58 for the day for 29th place and Mark Dickenson came up with a 60 for 30th place. Spring Valley’s Tyler Leach was the medalist with a score of 39 while Glenwood City won the team title.
Two Mounders had a pair of golfers finish with a round of 47 for the day including Rubenzer and LaRock followed by Lambele with a 55, Hagberg with a 59 and Nathaniel Schreiber got his first taste of varsity action and finished with a 66. Leach took top honors again with a 37 to lead the Cardinals to a team win.
