Elk Mound plays trio of games

Taking advantage of  the warm weather under sunny skies all week, the Elk Mound baseball team made the most of it when they won a pair of conference games 8-0 at home over Boyceville April 13, then traveled to Glenwood City April 16 for 11-0 six inning win over the Hilltoppers. They capped the week off with an 8-1 win at home over Durand to end the week with a 5-0 record and 3-0 in conference play.

Boyceville

Trey Mohr threw a two hitter for the win, whiffing eight Bulldog batters while walking just one in the seven innings. The Mounders took a 3-0 lead in the second then tacked on a single run in the fifth when Jon Storing brought Dane Lew in on a double. The Mounders put the game away with a four run sixth with Cole Tyman slamming a three run tater.

Tyman finished 3 for 3 at the plate with three RBIs, Storing picked up a pair of RBIs and Lew crossed the plate twice in the win.

Glenwood City 

The Mounders scored runs in all six innings while Tyman and Mohr combined to throw the shutout. Tyman pitched the first five innings and gave up  four hits with seven strikeouts and one free pass and Mohr finished off the sixth allowing just one walk. Mohr was 3 for 5 at the plate, Tyman went 2 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs, Grant Kjellberg finished 3 for 4, Carter Pritchard 2 for 3 and Brandon Bohl was 2 for 3 with a double.

Durand

Bohl took his turn on the mound and continued to mow down batters as he whiffed nine Panthers and allowed just two hits with three walks to earn the win. The Mounders held a slim 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth before they came up with three runs and gave themselves an even bigger cushion with three more in the fifth. With another run in the sixth they led 8-0 before Bohl had a little blip and surrendered the only run of the game to the Panthers in the top of the seventh.

Alex Hollister and Carter Pritchard both smacked a pair of hits with a double each and Kjellberg also banged out two hits and brought in two runs. Trey Mohr, Zach Mohr, Hollister and Hunter Adleman all collected an RBI.
