Colfax track teams compete at Menomonie Invite

Although the meet was held at Knowles Fieldhouse on the UW-River Falls campus, Menomonie High School hosted the competition with the Colfax girls’ track and field team placing sixth of 10 teams while the boys were eight of 10 teams on March 31. Teams from all three divisions including three teams from the Big Rivers Conference provided some pretty stiff competition for the Vikings.

Scoring points by placing in the top eight spots of their event for the girls were Dempsey Fogarty who was second in the 400 m dash (1:05.59), Mackenzie Jensen, third in the 1600 m run (6:10.67), Marianne Scharlau, third in the shot put (32-04)  the 4 X 400 relay team, third (4:36.47) and the 4 X 800 relay, third (10:58.10). Katie Christoffel earned a fifth place in the 55 m hurdles (10.14), the 4 X 200 relay team was seventh (2:03.16) and Bryana Buchanan was eighth in the 55 m dash (8:12).

Leading the way for the boys were Ben Kragness with a second place in the shot put (44-07.50) while Jacob Klukas took third in the high jump (5-10) and Hunter Leiffort was also third in the pole vault (11-0). Isaac Lee earned a fourth in the triple jump (38-03.50), as did Tucker Hovde in the 1600 m run (5:19.88). The 4 X 200 relay with Jeremiah Wait, Jacob Klukas, Jacob Steinke and Brad Foyt finished fifth (1:42.98) and Brett Prince was sixth in the 1600 m run (5:24.69). There were some special races for just freshman as Jacob Jensen finished fourth in the 1600 m run (5:40.83) and Adam Pretasky was eighth in the 55 m dash (7.51).
