Colfax High School had one girl and one boy compete in the Wisconsin State High School Powerlifting meet while Elk Mound sent four girls and five boys to the meet held in Necedah March 14-15. Scores were determined by adding the combined weight from the squat, bench press and deadlift by each competitor.
For the Vikings, freshman Mikaela Leibfried placed sixth in the 105 pound girls division with a score of 495 while senior Jeremiah Wait placed 17th in the boys 165 pound class with a score of 1030. (Leibfried also won the Junior Varsity National Championship March 27 in Milwaukee with her best score of 507. She was the only freshman in her weight class).
The Mounders top finisher was sophomore Elizabeth Fasbender with an eighth place in the 132 pound division with a score of 720. Junior Jade Sorenson was 17th in the same division with a score of 630 while freshman Allison Lindquist was 19th in the same class with a 620 score. In addition, sophomore Emily Ausman was 14th in the 182 pound class with a score of 655.
Leading the Mounder boys were senior Kevin Reynolds with a ninth place in the 148 pound weight class with a score of 1000 while sophomore Tyler Sahm was tenth in the same class at 975. Junior Eric Walling finished 13th in the 165 pound class with a score of 1075 and junior Ben Mack, also lifting at 165, was 18th at 1030. Sophomore George Friberg competed at the 132 pound class but did not place.
