GCHS NHS inducts seven new members

GLENWOOD CITY- The Glenwood City Chapter of the National Honor Society refreshed its ranks with the addition of seven new members during its annual spring induction ceremony held on Thursday, March 26.

Dakota Phalin, Tiana Carlson, Allen Croes, Taylor Drinkman, Corey Klatt, Morgan Peterson, and Kaylie Scalze were officially inducted into the local membership of the National Honor Society during the 2015 induction ceremony held in the high school/middle school commons.

NHS member Kaitlin Konder opened the program by welcoming inductees, parents, sponsors, and friends. Patrick Gretzlock, high school/middle school principal, was the program’s featured speaker. NHS members spoke on several important items. Troy Hall spoke about the principles of the organization, Marcus Kadinger detailed the meaning of the Candle of Knowledge, which was followed by explanations of the society’s four virtues – Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character – each described in detail by members Lydia McClelland, Leslie Ludtke, Hannah Steinberger, and Megan Samens respectively.

Chapter advisor Ann Schneider then installed the new members during a candle lighting ceremony in which each inductee received a hood from a current member after which all seven inductees recited the NHS pledge. New members were awarded a pin and a certificate of membership.
