Mounder underclassmen compete at UW-EC Invite

EAU CLAIRE — Elk Mound freshmen and sophomores had a chance to show head coach Jeff Mack what they were capable of when they competed in the UW-Eau Claire Indoor Classic hosted by Eau Claire North March 17. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished seventh in a field of nine teams.

Leading the Mounder boys was George Friberg with a second place in the pole vault at 9-0 while teammate Chandler Schreiber took fourth in the event with a leap of 8-0. Friberg added an eighth place in the 400 m run in 1:01.52 and Schreiber was ninth in the 200m dash at 27.03. Tyler Salm placed in the top 10 of three events including seventh in the 55m dash in 7.46, ninth in the long jump at 16-0 and ninth in the triple jump at 30-11. Hunter Johnson added a seventh in the 400m run in 1:01.44 while Tyler Brantner placed seventh in the high jump at 4-10 and Jared Strand was close behind for eighth place at 4-10.

The Mounder girls were led by a second place in the 4 X 400 relay in 4:57.44 while Jenna Storing finished with a fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 27-7 ¾ and Sarah Sweeney was fifth at 27-4. Maddie Jenson took a seventh in the 55m dash at 8.38, Allie Weber placed seventh in the high jump at 4-2 and Hannah Cedarblade finished eighth in the 55m hurdles at 11:68 and was tenth in the 200m dash at 30.61
