Spring at last…Everyone in the community has been waiting for nice weather. We have been anxious to get back on our regular schedule of activities.
As you probably already know last week we have been limiting visitors. We had one confirmed case of the norovirus. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this virus its incubation period is 12 to 48 hour. It is highly contagious and is characterized by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and some people get a low grade fever. Not everyone gets all these symptoms. Isolation is necessary and mandated by the US Department of Health Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That being said we did not have group activities, but instead we tried to keep everyone busy doing 1 to 1 visits in their rooms. As quiet as it was the resident’s spirits were high. We would like to thank everyone who was patient and understanding during this time. This virus was very prevalent in our community and we chose to error on the side of caution to protect both our residents and any visitors. We did not have green beer on Saint Patricks’ Day but we did have green staff to cheer up residents. Next week, “God willing and the creek don’t rise” we will be back doing what we do best…Having fun and enjoying every day with friends and family.
