Buchanan signs letter of intent
COLFAX — After signing a letter of intent March 10, Colfax senior Kori Buchanan will take her volleyball skills to play for Division 2 University of Jamestown in North Dakota next fall. Buchanan, a two-time Dunn-St. Croix Conference player of the year among other awards, was recruited by Jimmies head coach Jon Hegerle after he watched her at a camp in Minnesota last summer.
Hagerle led the Jimmies to five Dakota Athletic Conference championships and the NAIA National Championship tournament last year where they won their opening round match. Buchanan was also recruited by UW-Stout head coach Laura Evans who happens to be Hagerle’s sister. Buchanan will receive a partial athletic/academic scholarship her first year which could turn into a full scholarship after that.
“I looked at the campus and I fell in love with it,” Buchanan said. “I think it will be a great place to attend school and to continue my volleyball career. I am very excited to have this opportunity.”
