EM boys struggle against Durand

After a disappointing loss to Colfax a few days earlier, the Elk Mound boys tried to get back on  the winning track when they traveled to Durand Feb. 12. Things didn’t quite work out for them however as they lost 44-25 to the Panthers, a team who will enter the Dunn-St. Croix Conference next year.

It’s pretty hard to win games if you can’t score points and the Mounders found that out after being shut out in the first quarter. Trailing 16-0, they finally located the hoop in the second stanza when Colin Svee nailed a triple, Alex Hollister scored twice from close range and Justin Erpenback dropped in a deuce but they were down 23-9 at the break.

Dane Lew connected on a pair of treys in the second half but points were scarce otherwise as the Mounders were outscored 21-16 to finish off the 19 point loss.

Hollister led the Mounders with seven points as the team was two of eight from the foul line while the Panthers were eight of 12.
