Colfax-Bloomer grapplers finish off regular season with loss to Hayward
HAYWARD — The Colfax-Bloomer wrestling team came close but were one match away from winning their final dual meet of the season, dropping a 42-40 decision at home to Hayward Feb. 3.
C-B had to forfeit the opening 220 pound match, but Brady Chance won at 285 in a fall at 3:13 for a 6-6 tie. C-B forfeited at 106 pounds but that was countered when Hayward forfeited at 113 and at 120, giving C-B an 18-12 lead. Getting a chance to wrestle, Ike Kramschuster upped the C-B lead when he pinned his opponent at 2:35 and after Brady Simonson won his 132 pound match by a major decision 11-2, C-B was up 28-12. Hayward won at 138 pounds with a fall, then Collin Bungartz kept the C-B lead at 16 points, 34-18 when he pinned his opponent in 1:06. But three straight losses by C-B at 152, 160 and 170 pounds put Hayward up 36-34. Brady Hetke regained the lead for C-B when he won by a fall in 1:43 at the 182 pound match and it all came down to the 195 pound match where the C-B wrestler lost by a fall at 1:07.
C-B finished the conference dual meet season at 4-4 and competed in the Heart O’ North Conference tournament Feb. 7.
