The Colfax Varsity Dance Team did fantastic at its Conference competition.
The squad competed both in Pom and Jazz. In the Varsity Jazz division for Dunn-St. Croix, Colfax placed second. In the Varsity Pom division for Dunn-St. Croix, the Vikings won the division and a first place trophy. Colfax Varsity Dance Team also earned the second place trophy in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference.
Colfax fell just short of the conference title by just a few points. To compete in the conference, a team has to perform two routines of its choice and the highest of the total scores from those two routines becomes conference champions. This year Boyceville won the honor with their Pom and Kick routines.
There is also a competition for solos and duets/trios. Natalie Dworak chose to compete in the solo category. She earned a first-team all conference award for her efforts and a third place trophy. Ashley Sault and Laney Cross chose to compete as a duet. They earned a second team all conference award and also won a thirdplace trophy for their extra work. All three of these ladies do their own choreography and practice much of these routines on their own time out of regular practice time.
“I just love watching this team transform. The team is so different from where they started last fall. They keep improving every day. They have such a desire to be the best they can be and help the team in any way they can. They are just incredible ladies to work with,” stated coach Vicki Seston.
The ladies will next compete on January 31 at New Richmond in the WACPC Regional competition.
