ELK MOUND — Two candidates have filed nomination papers for three trustee positions on the Elk Mound Village Board for the April 7 election, along with one candidate for village president.
Pat Hahn, village clerk-treasurer, reported that by the filing deadline at 5 p.m. January 6, two of three incumbents had filed nomination papers for the April election: Pat McDougall and Tom Gilbert.
Incumbent trustee Paula Turner did not submit nomination papers by the deadline.
Incumbent Village President Andy Peterson also submitted nomination papers by the deadline and will be the only candidate for village president on the April ballot.
Turner took out the nomination papers, and it appeared she was well on her way to obtaining the required number of signatures, but she did not turn in the papers by the deadline on January 6, Hahn said.
Non-candidacy papers were due December 26.
Since it is past the deadline for nomination papers, voters would have to write in a candidate for the third open trustee position in April, Hahn said.
