Rural involvement bursts forth at the Fall Chippewa County Heritage Ride and Harvest

Article and photos by Linda Prince McCluskey

Two gorgeous days of early fall brought smiles to more than the participates of the Rural Heritage Antique Tractor Ride and Threshing Exhibition.

The Rural community brought joy, excitement and rooted out memories for the residents of Maplewood and Hetzel Care Center, as they came outside to enjoy the presence of the old tractors, their owners and  an entire wagon load of addition rural persons.

The weekend of comradeship, flowed from one hour to another, as we enjoyed lunch at the North Park, then a quick stop at White Birch and later more food and a hay ride through the fields, in the Saturday evening.

Sunday dawned with a quick breakfast, loading of the thrashing bundles, and the thrill of seeing the Brown’s antique McCormick-Deering Thresher roar into action.

Following this successful exhibition, which including sacking up the oats and baling the straw from the threshing process, we enjoyed each other and another delicious meal.

Our group functions on donations for the meals and any activities that we provide. There are no dues or memberships.

All are welcome to come join us. If you are not rural, you soon will feel like you are!

Come see us for the spring ride!
