EAU CLAIRE — The Elk Mound volleyball team competed in the Eau Claire North tournament Saturday Sept. 20 and won two matches and lost two for the day.
The Mounders defeated Hayward 2 sets to 1, losing the third set 15-8 with Morgan Polden slamming nine kills and Elly Friberg and Hannah Flatness adding seven each for the match. Flatness added three blocks, Rachel Caron served up three aces and had 10 digs while Dayna Kotecki led in assists with 16.
In a 2-0 win over Tomah, Friberg and Flatness came up with seven kills each with Friberg blocking three shots and Flatness four. Kotecki again led in assists with 15 while Leia Kufahl added 10. Polden slammed two ace serves and Serena Wieser picked up 11 digs in the match.
Elk Mound lost 2-1 to Division 1 Eau Claire Memorial as Friberg came up with 10 kills and 11 digs, Caron added 10 digs and Kotecki set her teammates up 18 times.
In a 2 sets to 0 loss to Osceola, kills were hard to come by as Friberg and and Polden both had four each while Friberg dug the ball up six times and Kotecki finished with 10 assists.
Elk Mound resumes conference play with a home match against Glenwood City Tues. Sept. 23.
