With three of the four members of the Colfax girls golf team getting their first taste of high school competition, the team played in the Barron Scramble Aug. 15 and finished 10th of 12 teams in the Division 2 bracket.
Colfax shot a round of 89 as Spooner won the meet with a score of 61. (Individual scores are not recorded in a scramble format). Hannah Yingst, Hannah DeMoe, Abbie Greenwell and Kaely Rieck all participated for the Vikings.
The team competed in the Somerset Scramble August 19 and again individual scores were not kept and Colfax had only three golfers so they had no team score.
Playing in a steady rain for the first nine holes of the 18 hole meet in Hayward, Colfax again had just three competitors, DeMoe, Greenwell and Yingst for the meet. Scores were extremely high for the most part with the weather conditions and the inexperience of the Colfax players.DeMoe had the low score for the Vikings with a round of 107.
“The girls all made some good shots throughout the three meets but we are still in a learning process and there is a lot to learn about golf,” coach Kim Myers said.
