COLFAX — Four girls, only one with competitive experience, will make up the Colfax girls’ golf team this season under second year coach Kim Myers.
After losing Whitney DeMoe, a WIAA state qualifier from last year along with Allie Yingst via graduation, coach Myers will look for second year player junior Hannah Yingst to lead the team this year. Newcomers to the team are senior Abbie Greenwell and sophomores Hannah Yingst and Kaely Rieck.
Since only the top four individual scores of each team are recorded for team scores in meets, Colfax will have a team score provided all four girls compete, according to Myers. There is no conference play but the girls will compete in the regional meet with a chance to move to sectionals and state later in the season. They began competition at Barron Aug.5.
“It will be a learning experience throughout the year,” Myers said. “We hope the girls improve their game from the beginning of the season to the end and learn to enjoy and appreciate the game of golf as we progress.”
